London City Airport Expansion news

City Airport is taking the Mayor of London to the Planning Inspectorate in March over the Mayor’s overruling of Newham Council’s decision to grant planning permission for the expansion of the airport in February 2015.

London City Airport wants to increase its terminal facilities in order to be able to operate 120,000 flights per year – that’s 44,000 more than currently operate per year. If this should go ahead, well over 70,000 people will be impacted by City Airport; more than any other UK airport except London and Manchester.

The enquiry begins on the 15th March and is expected to last around one month.

What do you think Sadiq Kahn should be doing about this during his campaign?
